It’s a family history as Sunny joins Gill legacy

Sunny Singh Gill yesterday became the first British South Asian to referee a League game in more than a decade – when dad Jarnail was on the EFL list.
Gill was in the middle for yesterday’s League Two game between Northampton Town v Hartlepool United.
He made history last season when he was fourth official when Sam Allison, the leading black official in the country, took charge of Swindon v Leyton Orient on Easter Monday.
