TYKES DREAM FOR ACE MARSH

GOAL: Aiden Marsh

BARNSLEY teenager Aiden Marsh said it was a “crazy feeling” to score his first goal for his hometown club.

The 18-year-old forward was handed his first start for the Tykes at home to Preston last weekend and marked the occasion with a goal – albeit in a 3-1 defeat.

Reflecting on his achievement, Marsh explained that he had predicted he would find the net on his full debut at Oakwell.

“It’s absolutely unreal,” Marsh admitted.

“When I got home and found out I was starting, I said to my dad ‘I’m going to score tomorrow’ and he said to just give it my best and when I have a chance, have a shot.

“Vic (Adeboyejo) did really well, took it over one player and round the next one, squared it back and, as soon as I saw it bounce, I thought ‘I’m gonna give this a crack’.

“It flew straight in, and it was just a crazy feeling.

“The only thing I’d have changed is if it were at the other side, at the Ponty End – that would have been the ultimate dream.

“But it’s unreal to score my first goal for Barnsley in the Championship.”
