Arsenal suffers a heavy blow 

While Arsenal may have been in fine form for the Premier League, the team failed to show it this Monday. So much for their hopes of getting a top-four Premier League wrap up this season. Arsenal suffered a heavy loss at 3-0 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Ironically, it was 5 years ago to the week when Palace had a home win over Arsenal.

How it all went down

The first half was already a loss. With goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew, Palace secured a 2-0 interval lead.

The Gunners did improve after the break, but Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard fumbled what little chances they had of bringing their team back in the game. Consequently, this wastefulness definitely cost them a heavy loss, and Wilfried Zaha put the game to rest with a penalty, 16 minutes from time.

Moreover, Mikel Arteta didn’t make an effort to sugarcoat his assessment of the team’s display. He additionally apologized to the traveling supporters for what he characterized as ‘limp performance’, further adding how unacceptable it was.   

Limp as it was, this performance brought joy to fans of Tottenham, West Ham, and Manchester United. Furthermore, Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-0 home victory against Newcastle United earned them fourth place. Nevertheless, they certainly have something to look forward to in the upcoming games.
