MARKUS Schopp is a well-meaning guy but the Barnsley boss only has himself to blame for the Tykes’ position in the Championship relegation zone.
Yes, Barnsley lost their skipper. Yes, recruitment was awful. But Barnsley’s best weapon last season was the long-ball, high-tempo, frenzied pressing strategy that suffocated almost every Championship side they faced.
Schopp, for reasons only he knows, decided to scrap it in favour of a slow possession game unsuited to either the division or the personnel.
