Ipswich Town owner Marcus Evans in talks over US takeover

Ipswich Town are rumoured to be on the verge of a takeover worth £17.5 million

Town are rumoured to be in discussions with a US-based group over the sale of the club.

A US-based group of investors are said to be looking at purchasing the East Anglian club from Ipswich Chairman Marcus , for £17.5 million.

The takeover is reportedly, being headed up by Los Angeles businessman Brett . He has current involvement in football as co-chairman of USL side Phoenix Rising.

If the takeover is completed, Mr Johnson’s group would look to dispense with under fire Ipswich boss and recruit former Manager Paul as well as Chief Executive Mark Ashton to the football club.

A spokesman for has responded to reports, claiming Town chairman Evans, “is not actively looking to sell the club.”

“Marcus Evans reiterates that he is not actively looking to sell the club and remains fully focused on taking Ipswich Town back to the Championship.” Said the club spokesperson.

“However, as he has also stated in the past, he would speak to interested parties if they can prove themselves to be credible buyers that would provide sustainable, long-term investment.”
