FEW clubs do a persecution complex like Leeds United, so it was no surprise to see the club’s childish response to the opinions of Karen Carney.
Carney, in her role as an Amazon pundit, said Leeds won promotion “because of Covid”, a clumsy phrase which probably sounded a lot more dismissive than she intended.
Leeds responded with a tweet pointing out that they’d won last season’s Championship by ten points, sparking a barrage of abuse towards Carney that – depressingly – centred on the former England winger’s gender.
