WALTON AIMS TO STAY NO.1

CHAMPIONSHIP

JACK Walton is eager not to rest on his laurels now he has finally made the goalkeeping spot his own at Barnsley.

The 22-year-old is currently the club’s longest-serving player having been at the Tykes for seven years, but it is only this year that he has become a first-team regular.

He said: “I had to be patient in my first three years as a pro in the first team, I wasn’t given many opportunities. But I’ve finally found my way into the team and I’m enjoying every minute.

“It’s been a good year for me and a good one for the club. I just want to keep on improving.”
