ASSISTANT DECISION NEEDS TO BE YOURS

MY OLD club Blackpool have appointed Colin Calderwood as assistant to head coach Neil Critchley.
If Critchley knows Colin and it was his choice, that’s fine. If it wasn’t his choice, that’s a potential problem. It’s got to be the manager’s decision.
I’d happily work with lots of existing staff whenever I joined a club. You might inherit a head of medical, and keeping that person is a condition of your contact offer. In turn, that person is allowed to pick their own staff.
