STEVE GIBSON was building Middlesbrough a brand new £54m stadium but needed a team playing in the Premier League to fill it week in, week out.
So he rolled the dice and in a bold move gave former Manchester United and England captain Bryan Robson his first job in football management. Boro were relegated in 1993 after one season in the newly formed Premier League and then had fallen away in their bid to win promotion at the first attempt, costing Lennie Lawrence his job.
