SIMON Cox admits he could not simply sit back and pick up his salary after ending his spell at Southend. Having racked up 43 goals in 172 appearances over the past four years, the 32-year-old striker will head to Australia where he is joining the West Sydney Wanderers.
That comes with Cox resigned to the fact that he was no longer first choice for boss Sol Campbell.
He told the Southend Echo: “I’m not going to be one who just sits there and picks up a pay packet. “I’m not that type of person. I’d rather leave and play somewhere else.
