WIGAN goalkeeper Jamie Jones has apologised after his error in the midweek match against West Brom cost his side a potential three points.
Leading 1-0 following fellow stopper Sam Johnstone’s 50th-minute own goal, Jones temporarily turned his back on the action to take a drink in his goal, and turned to see Antonee Robinson’s backpass rolling towards him. Jones picked the ball up and was immediately penalised, with Jake Livermore touching the freekick to Charlie Austin, who slammed home from six yards.
