COVENTRY won the battle of the former FA Cup winners with an excellent second round replay win at Ipswich on Tuesday night.
The Sky Blues eased into a 2-0 lead with just over half an hour played. Max Biamou played in Jordan Shipley, who coolly beat keeper Tomas Holy for the 18th-minute opener.
On 33 minutes, it was roles reversed as Shipley teed up Biamou to double the lead. Luke Garbutt pulled one back with six minutes left, but Coventry held on to line up a third round tie at Plymouth or Bristol Rovers, who meet on Tuesday, in the New Year.
