DARRELL Clarke admitted his Rovers team had “lost the trust of the supporters” after seeing them booed off at the end of a third League One home defeat in as many games.
A 40th-minute goal from striker Tom Hopper was enough for Southend United to clinch victory.
The visitors went ahead when Rovers failed to deal with Michael Kightly’s cross from the left to the near post and the ball broke across goal for Hopper to shoot powerfully past Adam Smith.
