OXFORD have confirmed Malachi Napa suffered a broken leg during the 1-0 Carabao Cup victory over Peterborough United.
The 20-year-old winger left the field after 21 minutes following a heavy tackle.
Napa had an operation last Wednesday, and head coach Karl Robinson said: “I feel sick for the lad.
“He had looked very bright and had worked so hard to get himself fitter and stronger than he has ever been, so it’s devastating news.
