After Lewis Alessandra netted a second-minute opener, on-loan Nottingham Forest midfielder Jorge Grant netted a double to make it six wins on the trot for Kevin Nolan’s Notts.
Billy Kee scored twice as Accrington Stanley won 2-1 at managerless Port Vale, while Coventry pulled off a fine 2-1 win at ten-man Swindon with goals from Michael Doyle and Duckens Nazon.
