As the group stages drew to a close on Friday evening, a dozen of the EFL’s 30 World Cup stars were still required in Qatar.
Ismaila Sarr put his penalty jitters behind him to score from the spot as Senegal beat Ecuador to book a last-16 clash with England today. The £30m-rated winger had fluffed his last two penalties for Watford but coolly stroked home to open the scoring as the African side triumphed 2-1.
