NEIL ASPIN admitted he would have feared the sack had his Port Vale side not ended their winless run at Crawley Town.
A first-half goal from Ricky Miller proved enough to give Vale their first league win in eight games to take the pressure off boss Aspin.
The 53 year-old former Leeds United and Port Vale defender said before the game that his fate was in the hands of his players, and he was quick to admit afterwards that the victory was crucial.
