WATFORD boss Tom Cleverley says Udinese were “desperate” to keep hold of Irish centre-back James Abankwah.
Abankwah, who turned 21 on Thursday, has joined on a six-month loan from the Serie A side, with CHAMPIONSHIP both clubs owned by the Pozzo family.
“He brings us speed and physicality,” said Cleverley. “We identified him as a player that is the perfect profile for what we are missing.”
