SAWYER’S NEW ROLE AT ARGYLE

PLYMOUTH captain Gary Sawyer has retired due to injury, but says he has made the right decision to take up an ambassadorial role with the club.Defender Sawyer, 35, who made 298 appearances and won promotion twice during two spells at the club, suffered an ankle problem in September and has been advised by his surgeon to retire.He said: “I’m gutted, it does hurt, but it’s important I make the right decision.”
