Saddlers’ away-day hoodoo banished

WALSALL boss Jon Whitney was thrilled that his game plan worked to perfection as the Saddlers ended their away-day jinx with victory over Oxford – their first League One success on the road in 2017.
The Saddlers packed the midfield and stifled Oxford so much in the first half that Pep Clotet’s side were having to feed off scraps.
Turkish forward Erhun Oztumer tapped home Joe Edwards’ cross on 32 minutes and it was barely believable that that visitors were not at least three-up by the break.
