CHRIS Dunphy will step down as chairman of Rochdale at the end of the year in the safe knowledge he leaves the club “in a far stronger position” than when he started.
The 68-year-old, whose first player sale sent Rickie Lambert to Bristol Rovers, has presided over the most successful spell in the Spotland side’s history. Since Dunphy took the helm 12 years ago, Dale gained promotion for the first time in 40 years in 2010 and reached Wembley for the first time in the League Two play-off final.
