BURY chairman Stewart Day is hopeful the Shakers will have a new stadium by the start of the 2018-19 season after positive meetings with Bury Council.
Vice-chairman Glenn Thomas met council officials to discuss plans for moving from the club’s home of 131 years, Gigg Lane, for a nearby new 15,000-20,000-capacity stadium, which they first announced in October.
The Shakers are optimistic these plans are on track, as are those to build flats and shops on the perimeter of Gigg Lane after discussions had previously hit a snag.
