English soccer clubs will remove bookmakers’ logos from their shirts

At the moment, in the English Premier League, there are seven clubs actively cooperating with bookmaker companies. Experts estimate the total income from this sponsorship to be 60 million pounds annually.

A statement was recently released by the Premier League press service. It says that English clubs have taken a collective decision to refuse to place the logos of betting companies on the front of shirts. The adopted changes should come into force at the beginning of the 2026/27 season.

Betting on sports is very popular in the UK, and every year, the number of bookmakers’ customers increases. The reasons for this are varied, but one of the most important is the availability of mobile apps that allow you to bet anywhere from your gadgets as long as you have access to the internet. Obviously, with such accessibility, betting has become extremely popular and attracts a large number of new people.

The second important factor in the popularity of betting in England is the active cooperation of Premier League teams with bookmakers and, in general, their active advertising during sporting events. Such marketing phenomena have been repeatedly criticized in society, and it seems that soccer functionaries, together with club owners, decided to listen to this criticism.

Especially for the development of a new position of cooperation with bookmakers, Premier League clubs have consulted with the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports. Moreover, the Premier League is actively working with other sports to form a more responsible sponsorship of betting and gambling in general.

What is the position of bookmakers in English soccer?

As mentioned above, 7 out of 20 Premier League soccer clubs currently cooperate with bookmakers: Brentford, Bournemouth, Everton, Leeds, Newcastle, Fulham, West Ham. All of these clubs in the 2026/27 season will have to remove betting company logos from the front of their shirts on game days. But that doesn’t mean that the same logos can’t be placed on the sleeves of the shirts: they will still encourage people to register on the mostbetregistration.org app, get bonuses at 1Win and play several thousand gambling games at 1xBet. Bookmakers’ logos are also likely to remain on billboards.

The desire to ban gambling in English soccer comes from an initiative group consisting of people who once suffered from betting on sports. The initiators of the project believe that such achievements will protect the most vulnerable category of people – children – from aggressive advertising of betting companies.

The Premier League is one of the most loyal bookmakers in European soccer championships. In addition to almost half of the top league clubs, bookmakers actively sponsor teams from the Championship – the second most important soccer division in England. As noted by the chairman of the EFL, Rick Parry, last season, the league and its clubs earned more than 40 million pounds on sponsorship with bookmakers.
