IT IS customary for any player departing a club to be thanked for his services and wished the best in future endeavours.
The lack of any such sentiments in the message announcing Isaac Mbenza’s departure from Huddersfield Town was telling.
Most players of Mbenza’s ilk divide opinion. To some they are skilful mavericks to be indulged and celebrated for isolated moments of magic. To others, selfish layabouts who undermine the team ethic.
