David Artell hailed his team’s complete performance as Grimsby Town leapfrogged Salford City to go third.
Evan Khouri scored within the opening minute before Charles Vernam doubled the lead in the first half as Grimsby eased to victory at the Peninsula Stadium.
Artell said: “That was a proper win against a tough team to play. Salford have made a terrific start themselves, and they ask questions of you physically.
“They have plenty of athletic players, but I thought we coped with their threat really well.
