Ref is no laughing matter for Askey

JOHN Askey hit out at referee Neil Hair, claiming Salford’s goal should have been disallowed after his Port Vale side were held.
Vale took a 54th-minute lead when Salford’s Cameron Burgess put the ball into his own net, before substitute Tom Elliott salvaged a point for the visitors when he headed in at the near post after meeting Richie Towell’s cross.
But manager Askey said Vale goalkeeper Scott Brown was fouled in the build-up to the leveller.
