NOBODY could quite believe it when Leeds fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Wigan, despite being a man up for 75 minutes.
But you’d be amazed how rarely footballers train to play against ten men. I played for 13 years at a range of levels and I was never coached to do it.
I honestly can’t remember a single training session where the manager said ‘OK, if they go down to ten, this is how we’ll set up and this is how we’ll play’. In fact, I can’t remember being coached to play with ten men either.
