WHEN any club go on a lengthy run without a win, their manager is going to be under threat – and so it proved with Southend’s Chris Powell.
After 11 matches failed to produce a three-pointer, the curtain came down on his Roots Hall reign.
I was there for Southend’s fixture against high-flying Barnsley in early March and saw the Shrimpers tread water for large parts in what was a really poor performance.
