Appointing Tony is just purr-fect for the Black Cats

is a top, top manager who deserves every opportunity he gets. are lucky to have him, and I can't see anything but success going forward.

A big part of that is Stuart Harvey, Sunderland's head of player recruitment. Stuart spent three years working with Tony at before moving to the North-East last year, so he knows exactly the sort of players that the new manager needs, and that he can develop. I'd be amazed if he hasn't already been working behind the scenes on a few deals in preparation for Tony's arrival.

Appointing a manager really isn't rocket science. What Sunderland have basically done is brought in a guy who is good with people and will get on with the staff. Who has a track record of success in the division. Who has a good relationship with the recruitment team, so you know there'll be no clashes.

It's just a very sensible appointment and I'd be amazed if it didn't work.
