Budgets and squads always tell in the Championship because there’s so much disparity. They might be operating on a £6m-£8m budget this season. It might be £10-£12m.
Whatever it is, there’s budgets in there of £25m and £30m, which is a different league.
For a club like Coventry it’s very difficult to compete in the January window, even in terms of loans because other clubs can pay a bigger share of the wages.
