Stockport County boss Dave Challinor was thrilled as his side made it five League wins in a row, but felt they were fortunate to beat Barnsley.
Two first-half goals in the space of four minutes from Isaac Olaofe and Will Collar – the second from the spot – gave County the advantage, but Barnsley looked the more dangerous side after the break with Stockport keeper Ben Hinchcliffe denying Adam Phillips, Davis Kellor-Dunn and Joe Russell.
