The striker had scored five goals in three games ahead of the weekend’s fixtures and looks a player transformed.
Take nothing away from Mark Robins, Lampard’s predecessor in the Coventry dugout. He did a wonderful job and built a squad that was primed for lift-off. All it needed was freshening up, like that last lick of paint to a house.
What Frank has done is turn a solid side into one that constantly creates chances, and that is perfect for someone like Simms.
