Scott Parker felt his Burnley side showed their Premier League credentials by edging past Southampton at St Mary’s.
Marcus Edwards came off the bench to score a debut winner as the Clarets won by a single goal.
“All round I’m really happy with the performance and victory and I thought we were well worth it,” said Parker.
“We changed our system and the players executed the plan to a tee.
“This was like a Premier League game and that was their strongest team, so it was brilliant to score a goal and get the win.
