RETURNING hero Lee Barnard admits he had no hesitation in joining Southend for a second time until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old was a huge fans favourite in his first spell at Roots Hall between 2008 and 2010.
He scored 37 goals in 85 games to earn a move to Southampton but has been allowed to leave the Saints in search of first-team football.
Barnard will be eligible to play against boss Phil Brown’s former club Hull in the FA Cup tomorrow and is thrilled to be back.
“I really enjoyed my time here the first time around and I’m just hoping for more of the same this time around, with just as many goals,” he said.
“It’s funny how things work out in football. I joined on January 25 in 2008, and now I’m back here a day earlier in 2014. I can’t wait to get started.”
