Town pulled the plug on last night, as the struggling boss was relieved of his duties.

A mere four games into the season, albeit four losses for Northampton, and the boardroom at Sixfields have decided that enough is enough.

Chairman Kelvin Thomas had this to say: “Justin did a good job for us in difficult circumstances and achieved what was asked of him when he came in last season by retaining our status, for which we will always be grateful.

“However results overall haven't gone as well as any of us would have liked, but Justin is an honest and hard working individual and we wish him well for the future.

“David Kerslake will take temporary charge of the squad as we begin discussions to find our next manager.”

worked his way up the non-league pyramid with the likes of Fisher Athletic and Grays Athletic, eventually winning promotion to with County in 2013. He moved on to in 2015, and subsequently Northampton in January of this year.

He secured the club's League One status last season but ultimately only won six games in charge of the club, and his tenure has now been cut short after just seven months.
