Ex-Rotherham United striker Peter Odemwingie has signed for Indonesia top flight side Madura United after being without a club for two months.
The Nigerian international left the relegated Championship club at the end of January in a failed stint which saw the veteran fail to score.
And after his move to south-east Asia the 35-year-old proclaimed: “These are exciting times for Indonesian football and I'm happy to be a part of it.
“Hopefully I can roll back the years by scoring important goals for Madura,” Odemwingie said.
Madura came third in last year's Indonesian Soccer Championship with this year's competition set to feature some familiar faces to English clubs in former West Ham striker Carlton Cole and Chelsea's Michael Essien.
Odemwingie added at a press conference: “To be regarded as a marquee signing is huge – I've played in different European countries but this place is really beautiful – and the people are very friendly.
“I've scored goals at all the top clubs I played and I believe with the help of my teammates I can still do the same here.”
Odemwingie turned down a tabled offer from Bolton in order to sign a short-term deal at Rotherham and play at a ‘higher level', making seven appearances and contributing one assist.
Kalau ditanya berapa target gol yang akan saya cetak, @OdemwingieP lebih suka gol yang saya cetak bisa membawa kemenangan bagi tim saya. pic.twitter.com/MCHlfAvLNn
