Camps among trio of Rochdale players to have contracts extended

have triggered one-year contract extensions in the deals of Callum Camps, Ollie Rathbone and Andy Cannon.

The trio will now stay at Spotland until the summer of 2018 and are the latest squad players to have their futures secured by 's management.

In the past four months Rochdale have signed first-team Jamie Allen, Calvin Andrew, Joe Bunney, Steven Davies and Joe Thompson to new deals.

With coach suggesting the are beyond the club's reach this season.

“I wanted to make sure that we were planning for next season and it's reassuring that we had the options in their contracts,” Hill told the club's official website.

“We want to work these players, we want to continue developing as a club and we want to continue developing those players. We've got a good, young, vibrant team and it's good business. We're underpinning our future as a football club.”

Midfielder Camps has skippered Hill's side this season despite his tender age of 21, and has appeared in all but two of Rochdale's league games this season.

Midfield happens to be an area where Rochdale possess good depth, with summer recruit Ollie Rathbone, 20, also having an option on his contract taken up.

The academy product has made 24 appearances since being handed his professional league debut by Hill in Dale's 3-0 victory over last October.

Rochdale's own academy product Andy Cannon, 20, joins the midfield pair in committing to the Lancashire club for next season, having passed a half century in appearances for 's 11th-place side.
