Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has played down a media report claiming he was intent on selling all of his football assets.
The Malaysian released a statement denying he wanted to sell the Welsh club for £50million and made assurances he was in ‘no rush' to end his seven-year tenure at the helm. Interestingly, Tan did confirm that should he receive a serious offer he would not turn a blind eye.
In the statement posted to Cardiff City's official website, Tan said: “For the record, I have no plans to sell any of the clubs but if I am offered the right price, I will certainly consider.
“I have been approached on numerous occasions by parties wanting to buy CCFC but the prices offered have not been right. CCFC has gone through a rough patch as a result of the actions of a previous manager which are now the subject matter of several legal suits initiated by CCFC.
“However, CCFC is turning around now in the good hands of Neil Warnock, who I think is a great manager, and I believe it stands a good chance bf being promoted again to the Premier League in the next season,” Tan stated.
Tan's global portfolio of football clubs includes 2018 MLS franchise Los Angeles FC, Belgian club KV Kortrijk, and Bosnian club FC Sarajevo, with the report claiming Tan was ‘throwing in the towel' on all four business interests.
In the statement Tan goes on to describe the promise he sees in his investement of Los Angeles FC, but did not carry the same enthusiasm regarding the Bluebirds.
Tan added: “I am in no rush to sell CCFC, but if I am offered the right price by the right person who I believe will be able to take the club to a higher level, I will certainly consider selling. I have said before that if I leave CCFC, I want to leave it in good hands.”
