The 21-year-old has struggled to hold down a first-team place at the Stadium since being snapped up from last summer.

Vale manager expressed his pleasure at concluding the first piece of business thus far in the January transfer window.

“I'm delighted to have secured Matty's signature,” Page told the club's website.

“He's a terrific player and one that I believe can really help us. I've tracked him for a while so I'm really pleased to have got him in the building now.”

Joining Kennedy at Vale Park is 27-year-old striker Theo Robinson, who has signed a short-term deal until the summer.

Robinson has scored 68 career goals in 285 appearances in total and makes the move after leaving Scottish club Motherwell.

Page said of the former and Doncaster forward: “We're over the moon to have added Theo to the squad. He's a striker who looks to run in behind and score goals and he's got vast experience in the League as well.”
