Bolton fail to pay players for November

have released a club statement saying they are yet to pay first team players their wages for November.

The club claim the reason being the current off-the-field issues surrounding the club's ownership, with chairman Phil Gartside reported as being ‘seriously ill' in November and that owner Eddie Davies ‘can't provide any further funding' as the club suffer the weight of £172.9m debts.

A consortium with boxer and life-long Bolton fan Amir Khan and former player Dean Holdsworth as figureheads had been close to striking a takeover but of developments have worn thin over the past fortnight.

Administrator Trevor Birch – a familiar face to fans – is acting as the club's custodian and had the following to say about player wages.

“This is due to a short-term funding issue. We are working hard behind the scenes and hope to have this resolved in a quick and timely manner and I will be meeting the players tomorrow to update them.”

No statement has been issued as yet by the Professional Footballers' Association.
