Brentford part company with Marinus Dijkhuizen

Marinus Dijkhuizen has been relieved of his duties as head coach of after just nine games in charge of the West London club. The Dutch coach arrived at Griffin Park in the summer, taking over from Mark .

After reaching the last season, Brentford have struggled so far this campaign and currently sit in 19th place in the following Saturday's loss at home to Sheffield .

Dijkhuizen previously managed at S.B.V Excelsior in the Eredivisie, where he guided them to a 15th place finish last season before taking up the role as head coach role at Brentford.

The board have moved quickly to replace the Dutchman and have brought in Lee Carsley on a contract until the end of the season. Carsley had previously been working with the development squad at Brentford and will be assisted in his new role by Paul Williams.

Carsley will have an early opportunity to impress the Brentford fans tomorrow, when his team face at Griffin Park.
