Matt Godden set for Stevenage departure

have announced that striker Matt Godden is likely to leave the club this summer.

A statement on the club's official website revealed that Stevenage have received  “several enquiries” for the 26-year-old, with the striker “almost certain to leave the club this summer.”

Stevenage Chairman Phil Wallace said, “We have twice offered Matt a significantly improved new contract to stay with us for another couple of years but he has politely refused that, so we won't stand in his way if we get the right offer during the transfer window.”

Godden joined the club in 2016 from Ebbsfleet United. He has gone on to score 30 goals in 75 appearances for the club, a goal scoring record which has attracted the interest of several sides.

The youth product was slightly less prolific in front of goal as he was during his first season with Stevenage as he found the net 10 times to help The to a 16th-placed finish in League Two.
