The sale of Northampton Town to an Indian consortium is off after the Cobblers' chairman David Cardoza announced that he has decided to ‘move on to talk to other parties'.
Cardoza, who has been chairman of Northampton since 2003, told the club's official website, “there are a number of other interested parties and as it became more and more apparent things were not proceeding with the Indian consortium, then we began talking with these other parties. We have made significant progress in these talks to a position where things are now well advanced.”
In a statement prepared today, the Indian consortium said: “It became apparent there were a number of complications surrounding the proposed acquisition.”
Despite the instability of a perspective board takeover, Northampton Town have started this season well and currently sit in 7th place in League Two having gained 14 points from a possible 18.
