Northampton Town manager Rob Page has hailed midfielder Matt Taylor as ‘exceptional' after his brilliant return to the side.
After missing three games due to suspension, Taylor returned to the Cobblers' midfield for last Saturday's game against Bury, and he played an integral role in the win, setting up the first goal and scoring the third with a sumptuous free-kick.
And despite clearly still possessing the same talent on the ball that made his name in the Premier League at clubs such as Portsmouth and Bolton, Page has also praised Taylor's work ethic.
He told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo: “What Matty brings you, his enthusiasm and his work-rate, I thought was exceptional.
“He played like he was making his debut on Saturday, and I thought he led by example and the free-kick was just the icing on the cake. It was exceptional.”
Taylor is expected to continue dictating Town's midfield on Saturday in the first-round of the FA Cup, when they take on Ryman Premier side Harrow Borough at Sixfields', a game Page is rightly wary of.
Speaking to the club's official website, the Cobblers boss said: “There will be upsets in this competition and we've got to make sure that it's not us on Saturday.
