City have completed the signing of experienced defender Greg Halford from fellow strugglers .

The 32-year-old, who can play across the back-line, and in midfield if needed, has joined Neil 's side for an undisclosed fee.

Warnock has been desperate to improve the depth in his Cardiff squad since arriving as manager in October, and believes the addition of Halford with vastly improve the side.

“I've signed Greg from Rotherham. I had him last year with me,” said Warnock.

“I felt at we were short with having to put a midfield player in defence and I thought ‘that isn't going to happen again'.

“Greg is a really good utility player; he played five or six positions for me last year.

“I felt he gives us so many options really. Wherever he plays he is super and I know he can play here, there and everywhere.”

It has been a busy start to the January transfer window for the , with non-league hot-shot Ibrahim Meite also completing a move to the Welsh capital today, while Lex Immers has left the club.

Meite, 20, joins from Harrow Borough, and Warnock told the press: “I just like the look of him really. It is just a hunch from watching him play.”

Meite will be hoping for a move prolonged stay with the Bluebirds compared to Immers, who signed just seven months ago for around £2 million, but has failed to establish himself in Warnock's first team.

“Lex Immers has left the club by mutual agreement,” Warnock said.

“He has not really been in my plans since I have been here in fairness and he has a lot on his plate as he is having a little baby.

“It suits all parties really. It frees up a wage and Lex can go and enjoy himself for 18 months at home or closer to home.

“He hasn't found his best form, but we wish him well.”

With Warnock signing Halford and Meite today, and making it clear he hopes for more additions before February arrives, Cardiff could be in for a very busy month.
