Bristol City have signed Hertha Berlin midfielder Jens Hegeler for an undisclosed fee.
The 28-year-old German, who is also comfortable operating in the centre of defence, has signed a two-year deal with Lee Johnson's side.
Hegeler is a giant of a man, standing at over 6″4, and has a wealth of top-level experience, playing over 150 times in the Bundesliga for Hertha, Nuremburg and Bayer Leverkusen, who he also played for in the Champions League.
It is this experience that Johnson will be keen to make the most of, as the Robins look stop the form that has seen them lose nine of their last 10 matches and slump to 18th in the Championship.
The manager told City's official website: ““Jens has a fantastic pedigree and boasts more than 150 appearances in the Bundesliga.
“He's a big, mobile and intelligent footballer who can slot into the midfield, as well as in a defensive role if needed.”
