Two former players could be set to link up at City shortly, with reportedly keen to sign both Sebastien Bassong and Youssouf Mulumbu.

Both players are free agents after leaving Carrow Road at the end of last season, and Bassong is said to have impressed Redknapp during a recent trial period with the club.

Bassong and Redknapp have worked together previously at Tottenham, and centre-back cover is required at St Andrew's, where Harlee Dean, Marc Roberts and Michael Morrison complete their current options.

While Bassong is supposedly close to signing a deal until the end of the season, the state of Mulumbu's negotiations with the is unknown. The 30-year-old signed for Norwich from in 2015, but was restricted by injury to just 24 appearances over two seasons.

Mulumbu, like his former Canaries team-mate, would offer a wealth of experience to Redknapp's team, and would continue a busy summer of recruitment for the Blues.

Birmingham brought in 14 new players over the transfer period, including the likes of Jota, Craig Gardner, David Stockdale and Maxime Colin – and the shutting of the window doesn't appear to have stopped them.

If Bassong and Mulumbu are signed up by this weekend they could make their debuts against their former club. Birmingham travel to face Norwich this weekend, but the player's lack of fitness – even if they were to sign – probably rules them out of appearing so soon.
