Struggling to know who to back this weekend? There's plenty of teams across the Football League that look over-priced and underrated.
Starting in the Championship, Ipswich have only beaten Reading in the league twice in the last ten years – Reading meanwhile have notched eight victories over The Tractor Boys during the same period.
With that in mind a price of 5/4 for Reading to beat Ipswich again at the Madejski tonight (Friday) seems about fair. But we reckon there's value to be had elsewhere.
Steve Clarke's side are unbeaten since an opening day defeat to Birmingham and come into tonight's clash on the back of two straight wins, including one in the League Cup. Ipswich meanwhile remained undefeated until they hosted high-flying Brighton and Hove Albion in their last game before the international break.
And despite Reading having made some significant loan signings during the transfer window – most notably Matej Vydra from Watford – this game looks too tight to call an outright winner. Considering the prices, the bet of the weekend with Marathonbet is Ipswich to win or draw against Reading with both teams to score at 2/1.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Charlton host stragglers Rotherham at The Valley on Saturday. Still without a win, Rotherham have conceded the most goals in the league so far this campaign and could be vulnerable to the pace of Tony Watt, who has three goals to his name so far this campaign.
The Addicks look overpriced at 21/20 to pile the pressure on Rotherham boss Steve Evans and collect all three points.
There's also some over-inflated prices take advantage of in League One, where Bury are 5/2 to beat Sheffield United at Bramall Lane tomorrow. Opting for Shakers to win outright might prove ambitious, so take note of the fact that Bury have only lost once so far this season in a tight game against Fleetwood.
Granted, The Blades have won four on the bounce since an opening day thrashing to Gillingham but they look too short in the market to break down a resilient Bury side that seems to be holding their own since winning promotion last season. And finally the last of the weekend's fancied picks comes in the form of Exeter v Hartlepool in League Two. Despite three wins to their name, Exeter have proved inconsistent thus far and have failed to clock consecutive league victories. They gave a sterling performance in the 4-0 drumming of league leaders Leyton Orient last week but whether they can build on that impressive win against Hartlepool is questionable.
Hartlepool on the other hand have had a mixed start to League Two. They won their first three but have been left scratching their heads after three straight defeats since then. But it's time for Ronnie Moore to stop the rot and at the prices, we think Jeff Stelling will have something to cheer about come Saturday evening. Hartlepool to win or draw with over 2.5 goals is the pick at 37/10.
