Reading sign Chelsea starlet Nathan Ake

have completed the signing of highly-rated youngster Nathan Ake on loan.

The Dutchman moves in a one-month agreement from the Stamford Bridge youth setup, and boasts over 50 caps for Holland after progressing from U15 all the way through to the U21s.

Primarily a central defender, Ake can also play as a holding midfielder and links up with fellow talent Nathaniel Chalobah at the Madejski Stadium. The two are part of the 's table-toppers long-term plans having signed contracts to 2018 (Chalobah) and 2019 (Ake).

The signing of Ake does come with a drawback, as he is cup-tied for their semi-final against on 18th April.

But boss, Steve Clarke, was happy to have landed the 20 year-old, “I'm delighted to add a player of Nathan's quality to our first team squad at this important time of the season. He has been a fixture in Chelsea's first team squad this season and we are grateful that Chelsea have allowed him to join us here at Reading to get some competitive minutes on the pitch.

“He is a very talented player who I have been aware of for some time and I look forward to working with Nathan in the coming weeks,” the Scot added.

Ake has started five games for Chelsea since joining the club four years ago and is set to perhaps meet that number in his one-month loan, after being cleared to play against at home on Saturday.
